Did you know that the PATH Act of 2015 conditions that refunds cannot be distributed before February 15 if the taxpayer has claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC)?
What does this mean for you? If you file your return before February 15, and you have claimed either the EITC or the ACTC, and you are due to receive a refund, your refund may be delayed.
Fortunately, this applies to a small percentage of taxpayers, and the IRS still anticipates that most refunds will be delivered promptly. Most refunds should take less than 21 days to be distributed.
