Newly married? While you might be tempted to sit back and relax now that the planning is finished, but don’t put that list away quite yet.

You have several new tax responsibilities that you may not have considered. In addition to updating any name changes with the Social Security Administration, you should also change your tax withholdings on your W-4 (employee’s Withholding Allowance Certificate). Filing Form 8822 (Change of Address) also insures that the IRS has all your updated information.

Furthermore, if you received an advance premium assistance credit with your Health Insurance Marketplace plan you will need to inform the Marketplace of your new circumstances as well.

All this and more can be found at https://www.irs.gov/uac/how-a-summer-wedding-can-affect-your-taxes

Let us help you! Tax planning is one of our specialties, and we can help make the transition to this new phase of your life a little smoother.
